The Red Saloon, Teck Saloon and North Drawing Room are available for a limited time only as they will be closing in March 2010 to make way for an exciting new permanent exhibition at Kensington Palace. On 20th June 1837, the young Queen Victoria met her Privy Council for the first time in the Red Saloon. This room will accommodate up to 100 guests for receptions or up to 80 guests for dinner. The Teck Saloon is named after the Duke and Duchess of Teck who lived at the palace between 1867 and 1883. Their daughter Princess Mary became Queen in 1910. This elegant saloon can be hired for a reception of up to 75 guests or dinner for up to 40. The North Drawing Room is where historians believe Queen Victoria was born. Ideal for daytime meetings or lunches, this room retains its original decorative features and overlooks the Rose Garden. Receptions can be held for up to 70 guests, dinner for up to 50 guests or presentations for up to 60 guests in a theatre-style. PLINTH: an up projects production for the De La Warr Pavilion
Friday 19th June from 9pm. PLINTH is a live audio visual trail created by multi-media artists M-O-T-H that will explore the architecture of the De La Warr Pavilion through High-Definition projected visuals and music as part of the south east Festival of Architecture 2009. Inspired by the building’s modernist architecture and history, Plinth will lead visitors around the Pavilion, bringing it to life with projected bespoke animations, and sounds captured in situ and sampled by musician VC Kristi.

An invitation to a three course supper with Bob Champion at Stoke Place on Thursday 18th June
Very few people become a legend in their lifetime, but in Bob Champion there certainly is one. There are not many people throughout the world who don’t know his story, his battle against cancer and his fairytale win of the 1981 Grand National on Aldaniti. He rode his first winner at Plumpton on 17 January 1968, turned professional in May of that year and was one of the top five jump jockeys in Great Britain up until the discovery of cancer in two parts of his body in July 1979. The following year was spent in and out of hospital with chemotherapy treatment, with terrible side effects. Undeterred, he continued with his long, uphill and painful battle to regain fitness and on 31 May 1990, won his comeback ride on the flat in America. The rest is history.
