Venue Review
Character: Cool, clean, modern and versatile, ‘blank canvas’.
Funky Features: Spacious pillared exhibition gallery; wedding licence, rotating contemporary art exhibition and menu; urban astro-turfed oasis in the summer months.
Location and History
The converted chocolate factory has become renowned on the South Bank both for its exquisite menus (which change fortnightly) and for its suitability as a high-profile venue, for events by the likes of BBC, Bulgari, Sainsbury’s and O2.
Delfina is conveniently tucked away on Bermondsey Street, on the edge of the city and the South Bank. It is accessible in a few minutes from London Bridge overground and underground station.
Interior and Spaces for Hire
Delfina is an attractive contemporary venue with two main spaces for hire: The Café and Exhibition Galleries. Both spaces can be used in conjunction with each other as sliding doors allow for them to become one, or they can be used as individual event and function spaces in their own right.
The Café Gallery is trendy and cool with blue contemporary seating and olive tables, whitewashed walls, splashes of colour from the rotating contemporary art exhibition and plenty of natural light. A popular haunt with the local artistic and business communities, the Café offers a vast menu selection which changes fortnightly, including Mediterranean dishes such as pan-seared scallops and pink peppercorn and mint-crusted rack of lamb.
Closed to the public during the evening, the Café makes for a great event space, especially since the chefs can be hired to create anything from a three-course meal to a canapé reception.
The Exhibition Gallery is one of London’s most adaptable venues. The white walls and pillars can be transformed with coloured lighting. Vinyl lettering can be stuck to the walls and images for event branding or conferencing can be projected with no screens necessary. Delfina is also a fully licensed wedding venue.
There is an outside area, which can be dressed to suit the event and in the summer months it is decked out as an urban astro-turf oasis, so that event guests can take full advantage of the long evenings. This also allows for a private entrance to the Exhibition Gallery and it has been used as a red carpet entrance in the past.
Delfina is ideal for a press launch, wedding, canapé reception, or sit-down dinner, Christmas party, conference or live music event. David Beckham said after the Police Sunglasses Launch that: “The events team at Delfina became an integral part of our team...incredibly accommodating, supportive and professional.”
Capacities: 500 Stand-Up reception / 250 Sit-Down dinner.
