Location and History
Hoxton Hall is a stunning Grade II listed building, originally built in 1863 as a saloon-style music hall. This “hidden gem” has many original features, including the wrought iron work on the balconies. It is the perfect setting for your memorable and unique event - everything from a film location or gig to wedding receptions and civil partnership ceremonies.
Situated at the centre of London’s buzzing cultural heartland, Hoxton Hall is a minutes’ walk from the ultra-fashionable Hoxton Square and the lively bars, clubs, galleries and restaurants of Shoreditch, 10 minutes from Old St tube and 15 minutes from Liverpool St.
Hoxton Hall has long epitomised the spirit of Shoreditch as a visible artistic and creative presence in the community: entertaining, supporting and educating local people. It played host to a wide range of colourful variety performers during the late 1800’s before being purchased by the London & Middlesex Quakers Trust. In 1976 a group of local teachers and artists leased the building off the Quakers and set up Hoxton Hall as a community arts centre and theatre venue. The Hoxton Hall of today runs a vibrant youth arts program and supports young arts companies to experiment and create work which breaks personal and artistic boundaries. It is also available to hire as funky performance space suitable for weddings, parties, film shoots, gigs and theatre productions.
Interior and Spaces for Hire
The Sunday Times described Hoxton Hall as “...exquisite, with balconies that are a fantasy in wrought iron “. The heart of Hoxton Hall is its unique saloon-style Music Hall theatre: a wooden interior with a two-tier cast iron balcony and fantastic acoustics. The theatre is situated on the ground floor and is a beautiful and memorable location for weddings, parties and gigs. Whatever the occasion, Hoxton Hall provides an inspiring space with a creative and friendly atmosphere.
The Stewart Hall has recently been refurbished. With high ceilings and natural daylight, it is spacious and airy. It offers space for up to 50 people seated and is perfect for events or as a rehearsal space. It can be hired on its own or in conjunction with the main theatre.
Complement your event with use of the Cafe Bar - a managed Cafe, with soft drinks, teas, coffees and biscuits available. We also offer a fully licensed bar serving a range of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks.
On the second floor is the bright and airy Palmer Room with lino flooring and a historic stained glass Bay Window giving lots of natural light.
